iContact, a leading email marketing services provider, has announced the “partnership” between itself and Hostgator, one of the major web hosting companies. Perhaps “acquisition” of Hostgator may be a better term, as the company will now have easy access to Hostgator’s clients. Hostgator wins as well, since many customers were looking for a more convenient e-mail marketing solution instead of tweaking around with software or scripts.

iContact Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer,  Ryan Allis mentioned:

“The Partnership between iContact and HostGator will provide a wealth of services for both sets of customers. Both HostGator and iContact provide reliable and essential services to their customers. This, combined with our SMB focus, means there is definitely synergy between the two companies.”

Anyone else catch their love of business buzz words? “Synergy”, indeed. As for “SMB focus”… there isn’t much else a “email marketing service” or even web hosting service for that matter (in this economy, personal websites are often slashed) can focus on other than SMBs (small and medium businesses).
