Hostgator is by far and way, the best web hosting company we have used. The customer service is just plain amazing, always quick, always courteous, but best of all, always has an answer. While most web hosting companies can deal with the regular customer's issues, Hostgator has always fixed all of our most complicated advanced web hosting problems when all other hosts failed. They also have an extremely low setup fee, only $5 for a monthly plan. Compare this with others such as DreamHost which charges $50, literally ten times more! Even the tiny $5 fee is removed if you order the yearly plan which also gives a further 33% discount on the already low price. If you run only one site, then the $5/mo hatchling package may be acceptable, but for most you will want the $8/mo baby package, which allows unlimited domains and has all the available features. The ONLY downside we could find to Hostgator was the domains are a bit pricey at $15 per name, though many other hosts lure you in with cheap prices and raise them later: Hostgator has consistently kept their prices at this point. But if like many people, you buy your domains from a super-cheap domain website, as we do, then this is not a problem at all. Pointing your domain server to Hostgator is a simple and easy process anyways. If you are an intermediate to advanced webmaster, Hostgator is really the best. They can solve all the complicated issues, have fast servers, and great uptime. If you're more of a casual webmaster with little experience with web hosts, then you might want to consider 1&1 or Yahoo. But if you have even a basic knowledge of how to point your domains (and avoid those pricey domains), then DEFINITELY Hostgator is the best for you.
