iContact Partners with Hostgator to Offer Email Marketing Services with SMB focus

iContact, a leading email marketing services provider, has announced the “partnership” between itself and Hostgator, one of the major web hosting companies. Perhaps “acquisition” of Hostgator may be a better term, as the company will now have easy access to Hostgator’s clients. Hostgator wins as well, since many customers were looking for a more convenient e-mail marketing solution instead of tweaking around with software or scripts.

iContact Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, Ryan Allis mentioned:

“The Partnership between iContact and HostGator will provide a wealth of services for both sets of customers. Both HostGator and iContact provide reliable and essential services to their customers. This, combined with our SMB focus, means there is definitely synergy between the two companies.”

Anyone else catch their love of business buzz words? “Synergy”, indeed. As for “SMB focus”… there isn’t much else a “email marketing service” or even web hosting service for that matter (in this economy, personal websites are often slashed) can focus on other than SMBs (small and medium businesses).

Hello and welcome to the Cheap Web Host blog! This is truly a very important area of web hosting: price! However, with our goal of keeping our budget confined to the majority of hosts who offer $3 to 10 a month hosting it is also important to compare quality. What good is a cheap web host, if it’s servers go down every month, or, for some of our reasons, going down at all can be a catastrophe.

So, price doesn’t always trump quality. But the two don’t have to be enemies! In fact, my personal favorite webhosting company, Hostgator offers a great plan under $10/mo. Not to be too shameless in promoting my personal favorite though: many webhosts are great AND cheap. But on the other hand, many others are expensive, offer terrible service,Â and terrible features.Â That’s why it is of the utmost importance for consumers like you and me to tell each other the hard facts about the services we use.
